  2. Marco Polo’s Birth • Marco Polo was born in Venice, Italy around 1254.

  3. About their journey • His father and uncle, who were merchants, journeyed deep into Asia until they finally came to China and the court of Kublai Khan. • Kublia Khan grandson of the conqueror Genghis Khan, was a man with intelligence.

  4. Marco Polo started exploring • He started exploring in 1271 and ended in 1295. • They reached Shang- Tu in 1275.

  5. Marco Polo went on a journey • When he was 17 he went on a courageous journey. • In 1260 he made an overland journey.

  6. He served in a government • Marco Polo served as a government official while on his journey to China. • In 1292 the Polo’s moved away from China.

  7. People have died • Marco Polo died in 1324 when he was 70 years old. • Marco Polo’s mother died when he was 15.

  8. They left China • His dad, uncle and him left China in 1292 as escorts for a Mongol princess traveling by sea to marry a Persian prince in Iran.

  9. The first European • Marco Polo was the first European to cross the entire continent of Asia and leave a record. • They went overland past Labize Nowith Iran.

  10. Going Home • After being away for over 24 years, the Polos returned home to Venice. • They brought with them lots of jewels and other valuable things.
