2. F. Scott Fitzgerald • Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (September 24, 1896 – December 21, 1940) • He was an American writer. • He wrote short stories and books, and is considered to be one of the greatest writers of the 20th century • We are still reading his books today so they have stood the test of time. His themes in literature still hold true today.

3. His Life • He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. • He wrote his first story at the age of 13 and it was published in the school newspaper. He later was in the Princeton Class of 1917. • The most influential time in Fitzgerald’s career was the 1920’s or the Jazz Age as he would say. That is when he published the Great Gatsby.

4. The Great Fitzgerald • He was married to Zelda Sayre. His sole inspiration • He had one daughter, Frances Scott "Scottie" Fitzgerald. • He published five books (This Side of Paradise, Charles Scribner's Sons, The Beautiful and Damned, The Great Gatsby, Tender Is the Night, and The Last Tycoon) both before and after his death.

5. His Downfall • Fitzgerald was an alcoholic since his college days. • He was known for it later in his life. • It was likely that he developed bi-polarity from his drinking problem. It is also said that he had tuberculosis, but some people believe it was a cover for his drinking. • By 1940 he had to heart attacks. The second killed him. He died in the middle of writing The Love of the Last Tycoon.
