BYOT is a new trend in education that encourages students to bring their own personal mobile technology, such as Smartphones, tablet devices, and laptops, into the classroom to use for educational purposes. Thirteen Seneca Valley teachers and classrooms will participate in the pilot program to test the effectiveness and feasibility of using these devices. MSNBC aired a story on May 6, 2012, about BYOT in public schools, and the Associated Press recently broadcast a story about this trend:
