  1. Human Factors A presentation by Paul.hardt

  2. Lack of teamwork • Teamwork is defined as work done by several workers or partners with each doing a part but all contributing personal achievement to the efficiency of the whole. Therefore, a lack of teamwork would be one or many people not contributing to that efficiency.

  3. Examples of Lack of Teamwork • The symptoms can occur when there is a lack of teamwork:  disgruntled attitudes, strained relationships, competitiveness, lack of communication, formal rather than informal relations with one another, not sharing resources, sabotaging one another's work. In short, many of our supposed professionals at work act more like kids on an elementary school playground. • Lack of teamwork will sooner or later turn into problems between individuals, process breakdowns, or other drops in performance.

  4. Lack of Knowledge • Lack of knowledge can be defined as not having the information or skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical misunderstanding of a subject.

  5. Examples of Lack of knowledge • Examples will occur in all aspects of personal and workplace circumstances ie; not having enough work experience to drive a forklift at work to not knowing how to cook a chicken at home. • Lack of knowledge can turn into ignorance. Not asking for help or not learning how to do something properly can result in personal injury and other peoples lives at risk. • Communication and training can solve the “ Lack of Knowledge “ issue.

  6. Abundance of Distraction • The abundance of distraction can be defined as one’s inability to concentrate because one's mind is preoccupied.

  7. Examples of Distraction • Be distracted in the workplace can result in injury or death. ex: not tightening bolts to secure a part together can result in that part breaking or failing to perform. • Distractions can be put into two categories: internal and external. • Controlling distractions and learning how distractions occur will enable concentrate on what you are doing at the time.

  8. Abundance of Complacency • Abundance of complacency can be defined as a feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy.

  9. Examples of Complacency • When a task or job is done for so long that is becomes repetition and you feel that you can do it with your eyes closed. This is an example of complacency in the workplace. • Accidents occur when steps are missed and shortcuts are made. Procedures are made and expected to be followed for a reason. • Appropriate manuals are made for machinery and parts to be followed so that these devices operate at what purpose that it was made for.
