The Model Take expensive sports programming (ESPN, Fox RSN) out of the bulk basic, reducing the cost. Make the sports programming available in common areas and available for purchase in every dorm. Use the savings from the programming to build a fiber system that the University owns and controls. Use Dish Network PCO program to deliver advanced programming to individual students. Results • By the numbers: • Seven (7) total dorm rooms purchased advanced programming. • Three (3) complaints on the change. • University has 22 fiber miles with 2000 strand miles of fiber serving 4 campuses. • Upon completion of the system build-out, their programming rate will be between $0.00 & $2.95, all within their control. • University is exploring new ways to distribute programming and get revenue on the system.
