How to Help Your Kids Build Their Credit
It would be safe to say that a lot of us use credit on a regular basis. Our kids witness this every time we go up to the checkout counter. We take out a raft of credit cards to choose from, to pay for the goods. This to them is money just as it is to us. Our goal has to be to teach our young ones how to treat these forms of credit in a responsible manner. They are going to need them in the future, and will only get them if they have good credit.
Whichever one of you pays the bills may want to take this credit teaching task on. A good credit rating will soon become a necessity. This will become evident, as your child becomes more independent.
At the same time you don’t want them going crazy with the plastic and you end up with a hefty bill.
The proper handling of their first credit card will help set a good pattern for them though out the rest of their life. It is important for them to understand they will need a good credit rating. Explain how this is valuable, if in the future they are in need of any type of credit such as for loans and mortgages.
