Search for Library Resources • Library Online Catalogue • Find books, journals, AV, etc. • How to get access?
Scenario one : – If I already know the Title/Author’s Name • Question: Search for the book: Boone, L. E. & Kurtz, D. L. (2006). Contemporary business 2006. Australia : Thomson/South-Western. • Answer: Search the Library Catalogue by title: contemporary business 2006.
Question: I want to read the book written by Bill Gates in 1999. What should I Do? • Answer: Search the Library Catalogue by name of Author. Be sure to search by placing the SURNAME in front of the first name.
Scenario Two: If I want to find books for my research project but don’t have any titles/authors in mind. • Question: I want to find books for my research project on Hong Kong’s Banking industry? • Answer: Conduct a key word search on banking and hong kong. Click “Modify Search” to limit the search terms in “Subject” and publication year after 2005.
My Library Account Use Lingnan E-mail / password to login • Check for your borrowing records. • Make online renewal. • Check your reading history. • Register for SMS Alert Service to receive library notices.

Search for Library Resources • 1-Search: A new discovery tool to search for all kinds of materials including journal articles, book chapters, books, AV and more.

It is a good place to find books, scholarly journals, newspaper articles, e-books, theses and dissertations, videos, etc. through a single search box.
Scenario Three: If I want to find journal articles for my research project • Question: I am looking for journal articles for my research project about the development of internet banking in China. • Answer: Conduct a key word/advanced key word search in 1-Search. • The Boolean Operators AND, OR and NOT must be written in ALL CAPS. • Words in a specific order use " ". e.g. “Internet banking"

Bankscope -- Includes detailed spreadsheet data (balance sheet and income statement), ownership information (shareholders and subsidiaries), Reuters news articles, ratings and rating. Compustat & CRSP via WRDS -- A comprehensive web-based business data management system which provides a variety of financial, economic and marketing data sources. OSIRIS -- A comprehensive database of financial information, ratings, earnings estimates, stock data and news on global listed companies. EconLit -- EconLit is the American Economic Association's electronic database and the foremost source of references to economic literature containing more than 630,000 records covering 1969-present. Selected In-Library-Use Databases • Datastream (English) – Global equity / listed companies information. • Bloomberg Terminal – It provides real-time and historical pricing, indicative data, reporting, research, estimates, analytics, portfolio management tools, electronic trading and order management systems, multimedia events and electronic communications to the users. • Wind 資訊金融終端(Chinese) – China equity / fund / bond / macro economics database. • CSMAR (Chinese & English) – Company financial information and trading statistics of listed companies in China. • CEIC Premium China Database = 中國經濟數據庫- Extensive coverage of over 250,000 statistical data series of China on national, provincial and municipal level. • *RatingsDirect: Provides real-time access to integrated credit research, market information, and risk analytics.
Borrowing from Other Local Libraries Inter Library Loan HKALL
HKALL – Borrowing from other Local Libraries • HKALL = Hong Kong Academic Library Link (香港高校圖書聯網) allows you to request for books not available at Lingnan but available at HKU, CUHK, HKUST, PolyU, CityU, HKBU or HKIEd -- delivered to Lingnan normally within 3 working days • http://hkall.hku.hk/search/ • Quota: Up to 10 books at the same time • User Guide: http://libguides.ln.edu.hk/hkall
