2. Agricultural Censuses in Russia • The First National Agricultural Census 1916, the second– 1917,the third– 1920; • The Crop Area Censuses 1964, 1976, 1985 in all types of farms; • The Census of Fruit Plantations and Vineyards 1970, 1984 in all types of farms; • The Livestock Census as of January 1, 1996 in farms; • The Russian Agricultural Census 2006; • The Russian Agricultural Census 2016 (from July 1 to August 15, 2016).

3. The objectives of the Russian Agricultural Census (RAC) 2016: • development of official statistics on the state andstructure of the agriculture, availability and use of its resources; • obtaining of detailed descriptions of agricultural actors; • development of data on municipalities (rural and urban settlements); • review of agricultural producer universes for conducting sample surveys in the inter-census period; • spread-out of the database for international comparisons.

4. Census objects Legal entities and individuals who own, use, or rent land, designated or used for agricultural purposes, or having livestock.

5. RAC 2016 Program • The Census program was developed: • in accordance with the FAO World Programme for the Census of Agriculture, • on the basis of the Russian Agricultural Census 2006 Program, • taking into account the results of the Program testing during the Pilot Agricultural Census 2012, • following recommendations of the Rosstat Commission on the RAC 2016.

Sample survey system(based on RAC 2006) 12 FEDERAL STATE STATISTICS SERVICE • Agricultural producers universes were reviewed; • Methodological guidelines were developed for sample survey of agricultural activities: • personal farms and other individual holdings; • (peasant) farms and individual entrepreneurs; • agricultural enterprises - small businesses.

13. 13 FEDERAL STATE STATISTICS SERVICE • Methodological guidelines developed: • for calculation of annual and quarterly (monthly) value and volume indices of agricultural production by types of farms; • for calculation of annual and current volumes of crop and livestock production output (in physical terms) by types of farms; • for calculation of annual and current volumes of crop and livestock production sales (in physical terms) by types of farms.

14. 14 FEDERAL STATE STATISTICS SERVICE • Time series recalculation • Algorithms were developed for recalculation of time series of selected indicators and adjacent indicators on agriculture for the years 1996-2007; • The following indicators were listed: • sown area under crops; • gross yield of crops; • yield of individual crops; • volume and index of agricultural production output; • food supply balance; • level of certain foods consumption.
