  11. Milking the Colonial Cows The function of colonies was to provide cheap labor and cheap raw materials to support the colonialists manufacturing facilities. Manufacturing or development of related technologies was not allowed in the colonies. The colonies simply supplied services and materials. Colonies were not allowed to trade raw materials or products with other colonies. JIC

  17. Colonial trains run out of steam in 20th century By mid-20th century: The colonial population became too large. Backward in science and technology. Could not carry own weight. The colonial masters had developed themselves in the latest science and technological fields. The colonialists did not need to own the sources of raw materials and labor since the old colonies would be willing to provide cheaply as they were trained for nothing else. JIC

Economic Freedom is development Former colonies do not have economic freedom The currency values are not set based on productivity but based on balance of payment Equal pay for equal work is the answer to world poverty Rich paying far less than full value of natural resources – a consequence of technological dependence JIC

New games for 20th and 21st centuries • Oil, a new commodity; new applications. • The consequence of WWI, provided new opportunities to the old colonialists. • All those machines developed with the blood and sweat of old colonies now need oil to run them. • Puppets were installed in the Middle East to ensure the security of cheap raw material JIC
