Academy Awards • Nominate books in genres. • Read book in small groups. • Create book “preview” using moviemaker, music, pictures, and video clips. • Walk the red carpet and see awards given for best books. • Create acceptance speeches.
Basic Skills • Elements of Fiction – plot, setting, theme, characterization, point of view, etc. • Vocabulary – context clues, synonyms, antonyms, dictionary, homophones, etc. • Word Parts – roots, prefixes & suffixes • Comprehension – reading strategies, inferences, main idea, cause & effect, conclusions, etc.
