Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) • Background and progress • Developing a ‘more flexible and enriched curriculum’ for 3-18 education. • Underpinned by independent, outcome-based, interdisciplinary learning – ‘student-centred’. • 2014 - first co-hort to enter ‘Senior Phase’. • Parallels with trends in HE. • Increasing divergence in approach across UK and beyond.
Curriculum for Excellence • Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) presents an exciting new • opportunity to think about transition within a broader context. • Practice - We have teachers who are implementing CfE within their • practice on a daily basis. • Policies - Most HEI’s now have, or are developing strategic plans. • Preparation – Students who have experienced CfE will be arriving • at university in 2015. What will transition mean for them?

Visits to Schools Visits undertaken to schools May- June 2013 Aim to reflect on what impact Curriculum for Excellence will have on future delivery within the scholars’ respective discipline/subject at HE level. Aim to have a personal reflection, drawing on their experience during the visit(s), professional experience of delivery in HE, and general knowledge of the structure, intent and direction of CfE.
