  9. ThyatIra • The name means “odor of affliction” • During the Thyatira period, instead of Pagan Rome imprisoning, beating, stoning, burning, torturing and murdering Bible-believers because they would not embrace the Gods of Pagan Rome..Now Papal Rome is imprisoning, beating, stoning, burning, torturing and murdering Bible-believers because they will not embrace the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church!

  16. ThyatIra IV. The Condemnation Rev. 2:20

  17. (Rev 2:20) Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

  18. Thyatira A.The progression of Balaam “Odor of affliction”

  19. (Rev 2:14) But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. (Rev 2:20) Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

  20. ThyatIra • Now the doctrine is being compared to a woman. • Religious systems as a whole are see as a woman in the Bible (Church, Israel) • Most women in the bible, when used in reference to religion, it always is a picture of a “false religion

  21. ThyatIra • The book of Proverbs (in which the Jew during the time of tribulation will turn for wisdom) uses the term “strange women” 11 times and 10 times in the context of warning against. And 5 times it is connection with the term “flattery”

  22. (Pro 2:16-17) To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

  23. (Pro 5:3-5) For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

  24. (Pro 23:27-28) For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.

  25. Thyatira B. Indentifying the prophetess Jezebel “Odor of affliction”

  26. ThyatIra • This woman Jezebel is a false religious system • The question is why God would call this false religious system by that nameJezebel. • The answer is so that the common man could identify her through the Bible, by comparing Scripture with Scripture

  27. (1Co 2:13) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

  34. Bible Study Rules 6. What do the individual words say?

  35. (1Ki 16:31) And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

  36. Bible Study Rules 9. What can I learn by comparing scripture with scripture?

  37. Judges 15-18

  38. ThyatIra • The bottom line concerning the identity of the woman “Jezebel” in Revelation • In the Old Testament, Satan used a real woman called “Jezebel” to bring Baal in to pervert the true worship of God in Israel • In the Church age, Satan used a fugitive woman called “Jezebel” to bring Roman Catholicism in to pervert the true worship of God in Christianity. • It is the same system. Baal of the Old Testament is the Roman Catholic Church of the New Testament
