  3. 起 步 • 20世纪60年代 • 日本实施Pattern Information Processing Systems (PIPS)计划，对中国产生影响 • 自动化所研究者将Pattern Recognition翻译为“模式识别” • 自动化所杂志《自动化》发表介绍模式识别的文章 • 开展字符识别的研究

  4. 早期成果 • 1971年 • 自动化所研究组演示四个数字“7150”的识别系统，向中共建党50周年献礼 • 1977年 • 自动化所研制成功手写数字识别系统，用于邮政信函分拣

  5. 国际交流 • 1978年，第4届国际模式识别大会(ICPR)，京都 • 中科院组织六人小组参加会议：鲍承志、陈贻运、王新民、戴汝为、东学魁（翻译）、姚筱贻（沈阳自动化所） • 1980年，第5届国际模式识别大会(ICPR)，Miami • 清华、北大、自动化所人员参加 • 国内学者发表8篇论文

  6. 1979年，傅京孙(K. S. Fu)受邀来北京在自动化所、北京大学、清华大学等单位讲学 • 1980年，国内学者出国留学，开展模式识别合作研究 • 1983年，傅京孙第二次到北京等地讲学

  7. 国内学术活动 • 1981年 • 中国自动化学会模式识别与机器智能专业委员会成立 • 加入国际模式识别协会(IAPR)，成为会员组织 • 第一届全国模式识别与机器智能学术会议召开 • 1984年 • 模式识别国家重点实验室筹建 • 1986年 • 在清华大学常同教授的支持下，“模式识别与智能控制”学科博士点成立，产生第一批博士导师

  8. 1987年 • 中国自动化学会出版《模式识别与人工智能》杂志 • 第一期为纪念傅京孙专刊
