What is the National Performance Framework? • Integral part of Spending Review (Nov 2007) • Underpins delivery of the Government’s priorities • Supports an outcomes based approach to performance (real improvements in the quality of life and experience for people of Scotland) • Applies universally across whole of public sector • Each part of NPF directed towards and contributes to the Government’s Purpose Government’s new way of working – outcomes focused

Public Bodies and the NPF • Align business plans to the Government’s Purpose through the National Outcomes and Purpose Targets (Alignment is not to the National Indicators) • Work collaboratively to achieve the Government’s overarching Purpose • Engage with CPPs to support delivery of SOAs Three central requirements

Public Bodies and National Indicators “Public bodies should include national indicators in their outcome-based approach where relevant – i.e. where the national indicator will help a body measureits performance against local outcomes. 15. Scotland Performs - Story so far • Launched on 2nd June 2008 – National picture • Over 50 up-dates so far – real data, real time • Over 60,000 website visits
