To ensure that national highways are of good quality, safe, reliable, comfortable for road users, and are well-maintained, NHAI is taking different steps. Among them, the most innovative initiative is launching the Sukhad Yatra App and the toll-free number for the highway commuters. It is being a major step in the Central government’s drive towards digitalisation. The exceptional features of the Sukhad Yatra mobile application is, the app is facilitating the commuters to report about all the road quality-related information like a pothole and to report about any accidents on the highways as soon as the commuters hit the highways. The commuters can use the app to buy the FAStag, an RFID-enabled tag to promote automatic deduction of toll charges, and the information about the real waiting time at the toll plaza helps the commuters to plan their route. NHAI has taken the steps for strict monitoring of the road conditions and take timely action for rectification of damaged stretches. For the emergency condition, the Ministry of Road and Transport launched a toll-free number so that the commuters can call and report an emergency condition or any highway-related information. To ensure the rapid responses from the health services, the toll-free number is also integrated with various ambulance service centres. To provide the user with accurate and responsive complaint resolution the service is supported by a multi-lingual user Interface and user location tracking features. To inculcate the habit of road safety, like behavioural and attitudinal changes among drivers, the Ministry of Road Transport has taken one more initiative, which aims to conduct training courses. Ministry will provide financial assistance up to Rs 1 crore to all the States and the Union Territories to set up a model driving training centre in each and every district. #SukhadYatra #TollPlaza #Fastag For more details visit - www.nhai.gov.in
