Sustainable Elements Stormwater Management A large rain garden will serve as an overflow area during severe storms. A slight slope will encourage flow into the garden, where plants tolerant of moist conditions will filter water as it seeps into the aquifer below.iow Bioswale Section Rain garden example Bioswales will accept and convey stormwater runoff from the adjacent paved roadway. Low vegetation and existing soil will treat and filter contaminants from the stormwater, acting as natural filters.
