3. Eligibility: Competition in the Albany County Fair Junior Shows is limited to YOUTH residents of Albany County Wyoming and the Laramie Trade Area who are enrolled, in good standing, in recognized 4-H & FFA programs. 4-H members, your show age is your age as of January 1 of the current year, and you may turn 19 during the year, you may not show in 4-H if you were 19 on January 1 of the current year. Albany County FFA members are eligible to exhibit and sell at the Albany County Fair up to the second county fair following their high school graduation regardless of age. FFA members will be able to show as an FFA member for a maximum of eight years. FFA members must be a bonafide member and in good standing with their FFA chapter. Any issues regarding FFA member eligibility will be decided upon by the member’s FFA advisor FFA eligibility is determined by Wyoming State FFA Rules. You must meet the requirements for active membership as listed in the current FFA rule book to participate in any contest at this fair; this is defined as enrolled in a secondary agricultural education class

5. June 1st – Poultry tag in – ALL MARKET POULTRY 1-4pm • All youth market show birds must be banded (turkeys and geese) or tagged (chicken and ducks) by June 1st. The market birds will be tagged with blue wing tags/leg bands. • Early Poultry home visit tag in request is online at www.albanycountyfair.org July 12th – Fair Entries due to fair office by 5PM

ENTRY FORMS • Albany County 4-H/FFA Fair Entries are due July 12th by 5:00 PM to the fair office. • Live animal entry forms DO require a parents’ signature. • Leaders’ signatures are not required on entry forms. • Entry forms are at Fair Office, Extension Office, Online at www.albanycountyfair.org • No late entries for any class except showmanship. $50 late fee for showmanship. • If you have a special request (i.e. my pigs were raised at John Smith’s house, pen my pigs with John’s) write it on the bottom of the entry form below the number of animals. • Accurately enter the number of animals on the bottom of the form • Fair office staff is always happy to help with entry form questions, come see us or call the office 742-3224

17. Market Weight Requirements: • Market Beef must be 1,150 lbs or at least 22.5 lbs/inch of hip height. Animals not falling within those numbers will be shown in the feeder class and are not eligible for the sale. (see premium book for miniature beef requirements) • Market Sheep must weigh 100 pounds, and have less than 3/8" of dry wool at the time of weigh in. There is no upper weight limit. • Market goats must show a proper finish and weigh between 60 and 150 pounds to sell. Animals less than 60 pounds will be shown in a feeder class.

18. Market Weight Requirements: • Rabbit Meat Pens - Limited to two pens per exhibitor. ARBA Standards will be followed. Rabbits must be separate rabbits from breed classes. They must be 70 days or less in age and between 3 1/2 – 5 1/2 pounds. • Market Swine must weigh at least 220lbs,no upper limit.

19. Market Weight Requirements: • Poultry..... •   Minimum and Maximum weights on meat pens as follows:              • Turkeys: Min 14lbs, Max 38lbs • Geese: Min 10, Max 22                      • Ducks: Min. 4, Max 12 • Chickens: Min 4, Max 12 All meat pen poultry must be able to support their weight and walk without assistance. If at any point during fair they are not able to, they will not be eligible to continue to exhibit or for the Jr. Livestock Sale and must be removed from the grounds. All weight taken on the Albany County Fair scale will be the official weight for this show and sale. There will be no reweighs. Fair management reserves the right to reweigh any market animal any time during the week with owner present.

20. Number of Animals Allowed • You may weigh up to eight (8) animals in Market classes, per species, at the spring weigh. You may enter six (6) at fair. Following the scheduled weigh in at fair, weight classes will be established and any exhibitor who has more than two (2) animals in any one weight subdivision (class) will be asked to take the excess animals home immediately. You may not show more than two animals in any weight class. • One meat pen of poultry of two (2) to three (3) market birds is equivalent to one large animal unit.

21. Albany County Bred & Raised Market Beef Classes: • J-2-101 Albany County Bred Market Beef. This market beef must be from the member's families (family can be Parent or Grandparent) own herd, owned and raised by an exhibitor eligible to exhibit at the Albany County Fair. • J-2-102 Albany County Raised Market Beef. This market beef must have been born in Albany County, Raised in Albany County and exhibited at the Albany County Fair. • J-2-200 Ultrasound Carcass Contest

22. Fitting, Feeding and Project Preparation. • All participants in the Albany County Fair must be involved and interact in the daily care and preparation of their fair projects. We understand that 4-H and FFA are family oriented organizations and help may be needed. Please use common sense when caring for and/or preparing your projects at Fair. If you have questions, please consult your superintendent in that area. • 4-H and FFA members are expected to take care of, groom and fit their own animal(s) at Fair. However, in the interest of safety or education, a member may be assisted by parents, extension agents or advisors, 4-H leaders, or Superintendents and /or current Wyoming 4-H or FFA member or any other person approved by the Superintendents. • Assistance is defined as a learning situation, where the person doing the assisting is teaching the member a technique in showing or fitting. This person is allowed only to show the member the proper skill or technique, and the member is expected to perform the majority of the skill/ technique required. • Violations of this rule must be reported to the show superintendent BEFORE THE ANIMAL ENTERS THE SHOW RING.

24. New or Reminder, FYI: • All market goats must be disbudded, dehorned or naturally polled. No horned goats allowed. • Market heifers will show in their own division, provided there are 3 entries to make a class. • Sheep/Goats. Must be shorn or clipped prior to health inspection check ins. • Lost Ear Tags must be reported to the fair office as soon as they are discovered missing. Tags will be replaced at a scheduled time shortly after they are lost.

25. New or Reminder, FYI: • No dogs, cats, or other pets of any type whatsoever are permitted on the Fair Grounds unless such animal is there for exhibit purposes or involved in lawful competition (except in the case of service, seeing eye or hearing dogs). • Pets are allowed in the RV camper spaces. • There will be no bicycles allowed at the fairgrounds during fair.

26. New or Reminder, FYI: • The livestock barns (except hog barn) will be open Sunday at Noon for stall decorating. Stall assignments will be posted at that time. • Dog Show is Sunday. Please respect their show, they have worked hard too. • Use the North side of the Beef barn to unload if there is a show in the outdoor show ring. • Hog barn will open at 6PM for decorating.

27. New or Reminder, FYI: • Beef projects must remain in the barn until 7pm at which point they may be removed to tie out stalls. • On Family Night beef projects should remain in the barn until 8pm. • Tie out stalls must be cleaned out by 10am. • No butt fans allowed in beef barn. • No panels in the beef tie outs. • Neck ropes must be used on all animals in the beef tie outs.

28. New or Reminder, FYI: • Dog and Cat Exhibitors: • To qualify for agility competition, the handler must compete in an obedience or showmanship class at fair. • A 4-H member may compete in only one obedience class per Dog. If there are more than one dog, then each dog shall be referred to “A” and thereafter for class entries. • Cat exhibitors must wear long sleeved shirts or blouses.

29. New or Reminder, FYI: Dress Code for all shows and the sale. All members will wear a short or long sleeved shirt (not sleeveless) with a collar, solid colored pants and closed toed & heeled shoes. If there is a dress code for specific shows, members should follow that dress code. If members choose to dress in theme for the sale, they must do so while also observing the footwear policy stated above.

30. New or Reminder, FYI: No veterinary procedures are allowed on the fairgrounds unless performed by a licensed veterinarian. Procedure for veterinary attention for animals housed during the week of fair: (A). Notify the species superintendent. (B). After inspection of the animal by a licensed veterinarian, a report on any treatment must be on file in the fair office. (C). An exhibitor, with a written vet report on file in the fair office may follow the written direction of that veterinarian for the same animal on which the report and inspections were made.

31. New or Reminder, FYI: • State Fair - Livestock entries for state fair close at 5 pm Friday.

32. New or Reminder, FYI: • Possession or use by a minor of alcoholic beverages or drugs on the fairgrounds will result in immediate expulsion of the member and his/her exhibits. An appearance before the Fair Board is mandatory before an exhibitor may show at subsequent fairs.

33. New or Reminder, FYI: Conduct by the exhibitor, their parents, guardians or a guest, which is determined to be unacceptable, will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the management. (ii). Any adult who attempts to influence the outcome of the classes will be asked to leave the show grounds immediately. (iii). Penalties against the associated exhibitor may include disqualification, loss of premium money and prizes, and removal from the show grounds. (iv). Disagreements are grievances and must follow established procedures.

34. New or Reminder, FYI: • Grievances/Protests • Shall be in writing accompanied by a $50.00 cashier’s check, money order or cash and given to the proper Superintendent or Fair Manager. They must be filed on the day the infraction/complaint takes place. If allowed by the Fair Board the fee is returned. • Judges decisions are final and may not be protested. • Awards can not be taken away, once awarded. • Violations of rules • First violation will result in a verbal warning. Second violation will result in disqualification of the animal from the Albany County Fair.

35. Junior Livestock Sale • Consignments. • Consignments closes Friday at 2 PM. • Know if you are going to state fair with the animal when you consign. • All necessary forms for consignment will be due complete with all exhibitor and parent signatures by Friday at 2:00 PM for all species. • Consignment will be during the market animal show for each large species. • Rabbits will consign during the swine show and poultry consignment is during the beef show. • No late signatures or consignments will be accepted. You must know your ear tag, tattoo or leg band numbers and the weights of your animal when you consign. • Consignment cards will not leave the consignment table. Your parents must be with you to sign them. No exceptions. Be prepared to indicate the way you want your parents announced at the sale on your consignment form. • Any member wishing to donate to a scholarship fund, a foundation or any other organization MUST do so when they fill out their consignment forms for the sale. You must have complete address and donation information. The auctioneers will not announce donations at the sale, a list of lot numbers with donations published at sale.

36. Junior Livestock Sale • No improper drugs may have been administered to this animal before this sale pursuant to USDA slaughter restrictions. • You must certify this when you consign.

37. Junior Livestock Sale • Only 4-H & FFA Members regularly enrolled in Albany County Market Animal programs, and participating as an active member of their club/chapter, will be allowed to sell an animal in this sale. • 4-H and FFA members must meet the Junior Livestock Exhibit eligibility rules. • Members must attend a Quality Assurance Meeting the first year of membership and again as they enter each new age division, to be eligible for the sale. • You must show your own animal in its' market class and take your own animal into the sale ring in order to be eligible to sell. • Animals must have met weight requirements, been judged salable by the official fair judge, and been entered in and shown by the consignor in the market animal classes in the Junior Department of the current year's Albany County Fair. • In order to show, a qualified entry must be willing to sell their animal, should that animal win the Grand or Reserve Championship.

38. Junior Livestock Sale • Sale order is established by the Fair Office using the official placing off of the judging sheets and the following criteria: • Each consignor may sell two (2) animals of different species but only one pen of poultry. • The Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Market Beef, Lamb, Goat and Hog must sell at this sale, provided that the exhibitor is eligible. • The Grand and Reserve Grand Champions will sell at the beginning of this sale. • Small animals will be sold in a group at the end of the sale. • Poultry & Rabbits. • You are responsible for delivery of your live animal(s) to the buyer, or to transport the animal to the new owner. The sale committee will not make slaughter or delivery arrangements, nor will they pay any incurred costs by either party. Do not leave your animals in the barn.

39. Junior Livestock Sale • Transfer of Ownership. Once an animal has been through this sale, you no longer own it. It becomes the property of the buyer and no substitutions will be allowed. Substitution of Animals; Any attempt to substitute an animal for the consigned sale animal (or the animal of another consignor) either before or after the sale will result in cancellation of the sale and all monies returned. The buyer of record at the sale must receive the animal or the carcass of the animal that they purchased at the Junior Livestock Sale after the sale or the sale will be cancelled and the consignor will be barred from participation at the following years’ fair. This includes the hides.
