STUDY OF DEWATERING OF MBR’S WASTE ACTIVATED SLUDGE (WAS) AIM
AQUA DESIGNS INDIA LIMITED COMPANY PROFILE • Aqua Designs is the only Water Treatment Company in India to have ISO 9001:2000 Certification for all the activities which includes Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Execution, Laboratory Services, Water Treatment Chemicals and Operation & Maintenance Services. • Aqua Designs supply water and wastewater treatment equipment to fit the needs of Industries and Domestic applications. • They are also Doing Operation and Maintenance (O&M)
WATER TREATMENT PLANT The Process of Converting Waste Water into Drinkable and useful water. Some of the wastes from, Power stations, Refineries, Food & Beverage, Automobile , Petro-chemical , Pharmaceuticals, Textiles, Oil & Gas, Leather & Tannery , Metal Refining, IT Parks, etc.
WASTE ACTIVATED SLUDGE During the process of Dewatering the Sludge is formed. Sludge is nothing but Solid Waste mixed with Waste Water. In Normal level 8 gm/lit is allowed to MBR Process. If it is exceeds 15 gm/lit Sludge is called Activated Sludge, and it is deposited in the bottom of the aeration tank.
CONVENTIONAL SLUDGE THICKENING Sludge Thickening is the Process of maximum Removal of Water from the WAS. Now thickening is carried out by Conventional Sand Bed method.
PROBLEM OF CONVENTIONAL METHOD It is Difficult to Thickening the Waste Activated Sludge efficiently. The Time taken for the Process is High. The Space required for Sand Bed & Thickened Sludge Storage is High.
OUR NEW SLUDGE THICKENER In Order to Overcome Problems of the Conventional Method, We are going to Develop the New Method. It is a Mechanical type Thickener. It is Works under the Principle of Spinning Action of the Washing Machine
WORKING PRINCIPLE We are Loading the Activated Sludge in the Machine. The Spinning Action takes place in the Machine. Now the maximum Water Removed from the WAS. After that the Sludge is going to Dry for removal of moisture for easy Disposal.
METHODOLOGY Collection of Samples from Various Plants. Test the MLSS Level in the Sample. Design the WAS Thickener. To analyse the Efficiency , Cost & Energy Consumption of the WAS Thickener.
SAMPLES FROM • Tidal Park • Nokia Plant
TESTS FOR SLUDGE • Some of the tests are needed to find out the behaviour of the Sludge, materials and Germs mixed with Sludge. • Sludge properties are changed depends upon the type of Plant (ie) Leather tanuries, Chemical Industries, Canteen wastes etc..,
TYPES OF TEST • Viscosity Test • Filterability Test • Biological Test .etc…,
VISCOSITY TEST • Viscosity is directly proportional to the Concentration of the Sludge. • If the Viscosity of the Sludge is High means the Concentration of the Sludge is High. • It will reduce the Dewatering ability.
FILTERABILITY TEST • It is performed by using Filter Paper. • It’s mesh is similar to the membrane
BIOLOGICAL TEST • It is used to find out what type of germs bacterias available in the Sludge.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT The maximum Removal of Water in efficient method. To Reduce the Space required. Low Time Consumption. The Sludge Removal is Easy. This method is very much useful in future for all the Water Treatment Plant.
