Collect and Publish Data Publishing carrier data at the census block level is the key to identifying areas where demand should be aggregated and created. Carrier data is the key to extending the broadband supply and demand data horizon.

RUS is making loans and grants for broadband infrastructure projects in rural areas via its Broadband Initiatives Program. Public Private Partnership Billions of Dollars in Rural Infrastructure Development Thousands of Jobs Created
Wabash Telephone Cooperative Fiber Project • Communities connected: 9 • Start Date: 2009 • Completion: 5-7 Years • Will receive $21.8 million in RUS loans from USDA to expand rural broadband access. • 777 miles of fiber optic cable

Broadband Adoption • Adoption can be hindered by several things such as relevance, availability, and cost. • Through marketing, training, outreach, and gathering demand and access information, Broadband Illinois is working to increase adoption. • Please tell us your story
What is Connect to Compete? National program that brings affordable broadband, computers and digital literacy training to disadvantaged families. How to sign up? Contact the provider in your area. Discounted offers will launch in spring of 2012 reach all the providers’ areas by September 2012. What does the program offer? Families can get two-years of $9.95 (plus tax) broadband cable Internet. What Illinois Internet service providers are participating? Charter, Comcast, Mediacom, Suddenlink, &Time Warner Cable.
