History in Brunei • In the 6th century Brunei was trading with China in became a Hindu country. • When the Majapahit Kingdom empire fell Brunei became independent. • From the 16th to 19th century it was really powerful. In 1841 they lost Sarawak it became a British Protectorate then a British Dependency. • During World War II Japan occupied Brunei. After that it was liberated by Australia in 1985.
Languages • The official language in Brunei in Malay • English is spoken and understood there, • Chinese is also spoken there with some indigenous languages. Example… Iban, Murut. • Malay is an easy language to learn. • The grammar in simple and the script is Roman.

3-4day • Kampong Ayer/Water village • Take a boat for 4 hours from Bandar Seri Begawan to the water village. Take the Brunei river. It is the home of the Monkey with he long nose. You go down the river and will see Mangroves that have been there for millions of years.

5-6 day • Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque • It is located on an artificial lagoon near the Brunei River. It is considered to be the largest mosque of the Far East. The walls, arches, columns and towers are made of Italian marble. The walls support the gold dome on the top of the mosque. It was named after the 28th Sultan of Brunei. • The main religion in Brunei is Islam so there are a lot of them there
