Southwestern Literature • Borders and frontiers – fact and metaphor for differing cultures, attitudes, and factions • Ambivalence – act of being torn in several different directions and crossing varying borders • Duality often exposed – conquer nature yet feel at one with it • Significant Hispanic and Native American influence
