3-Way Conferences……………..Before • send home a letter to parents to explain the process • give class time for students to look at their report card and fill out a “how do I see myself” sheet • have students complete an agenda • review the checklist with the students • student groups role play their conferences
3-Way Conferences……………………During • Let the student run the show • Complete a summary sheet • Keep the parent on task • Focus on student academic achievement NOT B EHAVIOUR • Ask parents to complete a feedback sheet • Set up further conference times as required

Suggestions to Avoid Barriers • Whole staff meeting time (teacher-parent-student mixer) • High school staff scheduled as a group (for smaller schools) • Book extra appointments on issues • Communication • SCC/parent information presentation • Letters explaining the process • Address non-academic issues as they arise
