Overview of Parks & Rec Survey • Designed to capture and provide feedback on residents’ experience with Charlottesville parks, facilities, and programs. • Also designed to elicit feedback about potential future parks, athletic opportunities (indoor/outdoor), and programs. • Sponsored and funded by the Charlottesville Division of Parks. • Development and administration was a collaborative effort between Parks and the Center for Survey Research (CSR), a unit of the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service (CCPS) at UVA. • Focus groups: to fine-tune the survey instrument
Methodology • Oversampled traditionally low response rate neighborhoods
Methodology • Survey protocol: • Advanced letter • Survey packet • Reminder postcard • Thank you postcard • 2nd survey packet • Response rate: 23.4% • Margin of error: ±4.4% • Overrepresentation of females, seniors, single-family homes, and whites
