Unit Objectives • At the end of this unit, students will be able to: • Explain how several aspects of the neighborhood changes. • Describe ways to take care of the earth including recycling, reusing, reducing, and repairing. • Understand the aspects of change that causes those moving and to those left behind to be fearful. • Identify ways to be neighborly and help others.

Performance Assessment For Younger Learners – • Select the area of Neighborhood Change most relevant to your community that was studied in this unit. Have students make a three panel picture is which they identify what needs changing, how it a plan for making the change, and what they anticipate the outcome or results to be.
Performance Assessment For More Able Learners – • Ask student write a news story about a change they think should happen in their neighborhood based on the topics studied in the unit. The news story should clearly identify the change that is needed and why, a plan to implement the change, and the anticipated results of the change. They may include pictures with their news story.
