Your title should be… My Hero, Benjamin Franklin then centered underneath write… by Susie Superwriter. • Turn in 6 things: research grid, hero outline, rough draft with my corrections, final draft, rubric, and bibliography. • Take out the highlighted verbs (use control-A). • Do not staple the final copy – use a paperclip. • Put a check mark next to the correction on your rough draft as you make a change. This will help you keep track of whether you’ve made the correction. Revisions

  3. Don’t say “to me” or “I believe” • You wrote the essay so we know that these are your thoughts and beliefs. It’s your essay!

  4. If using a question at the beginning of the essay, make sure it relates to your introduction Do you know who created the first firehouse? A hero is a person who helps others…  Do you know who created the first firehouse? My hero, Benjamin Franklin, not only created the first firehouse, but many other inventions that we still use today.  • If using a quotation, it must relate to the trait you are focusing on “The animals at my shelter are my family until they find a family of their own,” said Erin.   5. Give specific examples and explain – don’t assume that the reader knows something. • Your example must illustrate the trait. She showed nobility because she trained for three missions and traveled to the moon.  (How does this show nobility?) She was brave because she went on 3 missions to space even if it meant danger and risk of dying.  (before this sentence, the author wrote about the Challenger explosion) Evidence and Examples
