Hearth inside the U.S. Dubstep first came to the U.S. through Baltimore DJ Joe Nice, he helped start its spread into the continent. Regular Dubstep club nights started appearing in cities such as; New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Montreal, and Houston.
Cultural Source of Dubstep Dubstep came through experimental releases of UK garage producers, who wanted to incorporate elements of drum and bass into the South London-based 2-step garage sound.
The Diffusion of Dubstep Dubstep started out appearing only in South London, meaning it was folk culture. It then grew and spread into countries such as the U.S., Australia, Canada, Ireland, and Japan.
Diffusion Dubstep moved very quickly from the putative next-big-thing of electronic music to a punch line. It moved from the UK’s underground buzz through multiple DJs. The diffusion was contagious because the music travelled rapidly.
