Progress Reports Following Your Child’s Achievement Each Week
Progress Report • What is it? • Regular, automated, weekly communication tool showing student achievement • Who receives it? • Students, parents, and district personnel • What does it look like? • It has evolved and will continue to evolve • Why is it important? • Shows 3 things • Pace (attendance) • Quality (grades) • Quantity (how much work a student has completed)
Weekly Progress Reports • Sent every Friday around 12:00 noon • Parent and student receives a copy • Student is bcc’d for security purposes • Student receives a copy in his or her BVA provided student email account • Parents, check your spam or junk folder if you are missing any reports • Password protected with student’s first name and birthdate • For example, John Doe born on August 17, 1997 would have a password of john081997 • All district contacts receive a copy in a separate e-mail • Other contacts can be added per parent or district written request
Password Protected • Password protected with student’s first name and birthdate • “Clue” is stated in e-mail text of progress report, but many people miss the clue *** For security purposes, the attached document is password protected. To open the document, double-click on the document and then enter, in all lower case alpha characters only, the first name under which the student is registered with the student's birth month and birth year following, no spaces. For example, for student John Doe, born on August 17, 1997, his password would be "john081997." ***
“My Dedication This Week”(First Column) • An indicator of how much your student completed that week • Number should always be between 90 and 100% • This indicates your student is completing lessons and submitting assignments, quizzes, and tests on a consistent basis • Loosely considered “attendance”
“My Overall Grades” • An indicator of “quality” • The average weighted score of the assignments the student is submitting • We like to see this number above 80% • We stress mastery • Students usually have two attempts • Feedback from teachers can be used to improve grade • If this is below 70%, your student should ask his or her teacher for extra help 320
“My Overall Progress” • Indicator of overall quantity • How much of the course your student has completed to date
“My Overall Progress” • If your student came into the program in the month of September • On or around Friday, October 25 (end of 1st marking period) • “Part A” courses (ODY, BWA, and Aventa) should be at 50% • 21CCCS and BVA courses should be at 25% • On or around Friday, January 10 (end of 2nd marking period) • “Part A” courses (ODY, BWA, and Aventa) should be at 100% • 21CCCS and BVA courses should be at 50% • Consult the “Am I On Track? Pacing Calendar” in student handbook for a more detailed view • Loaded on the desktop of BVA / PVA provided laptops • Sent with original welcome packet
