Security Issues of Smart Vehicles (CSE) Huirong Fu and Imad Elhajj{fu, elhajj}@oakland.edu Potential Applications: Vehicle Immediate Vicinity Awareness Driver Ad Hoc Networking Infrastructure Problem: Road safety, traffic management, and driver convenience continue to improve. But this evolution has deep implications for security, which has been overlooked so far. • Challenges: • Ad hoc networks • Rapidly changing network topology • Time sensitive message • Huge number of vehicles • Security Issues: • Wireless authentication of vehicles • Vital signs authentication and integrity: turn signal indicators, brake application, relative/absolute speed, headlights, etc. References: 1.
