Introduction • Hello! You are about to learn about the Southern colonies. The Southern colonies are Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. You will learn about Jobs, food, clothing, the founders, and more! There are some interesting stuff about colonial times in this slide. We hope you like it!
Schools • Imagine what school is like now, its way different in colonial times. If you talked during class you would get a slapping on the hand, that you would never forget! Mostly boys went to school, girls stayed home! If a boy didn’t bring firewood in the winter they would have to sit in the coldest part of the room! If you didn’t behave in school you will get embarrassed. Like if you didn’t know your lesson you would be called a dunce and you would have to sit in the dunce stool and wear a dunce cap. Their school was very strict

Georgia FOUNED: By James Oglethorpe MAJOR INDUSTRIES: Agriculture ( indigo, rice ,sugar) MAJOR CITIES: Savannah COLONY NAMED FOR: King George 2 BECAME A STATE : January 2,1788
Jobs There were some pretty tough jobs in colonial times. Some of the jobs were hard like Blacksmith{they had to be strong and brave}.Most jobs were easy like Innkeeper{they just had to take care of an Inn}.Some jobs were in the middle like a wigmaker or cobbler. They all put effort into the jobs
Consequences Punishments were very harsh in colonial times. One punishment was getting hanged like if you stole a silver spoon be hanged. If people broke the law they would be put on the whipping post. If a wife talked back to her husband, she would be put on the dunking stool. You would never want to do that. Would you?
