I take great pride in creating original and instructionally sound visual communication solutions to all faculty and staff here at PVC. This can be in the form of web design, course visual design, instructional applications and online applications. My stewardship responsibility is to provide the college with the best professional services with being mindful of college resources. I am always mindful of what technology we buy and use in order to stretch our resources so we don't waste dollars and still can provide services of high value to support PVC's learning centered values.”
Anthony Lamanna, Science Faculty What is an example of how you connect to these supporting values? • Communication "Communication is a core value that I employ at all levels including student, co-worker, and community. I have an open door policy with my students in which they can approach me with any issue, as well as making myself available to students for advice in their chosen or even undecided career path. I maintain communication with coworkers by mentoring newer employees and continuing to seek advice from veteran faculty and staff. Lastly, I maintain communication with the community through serving as a club advisor (Pre-Physician Assistant Club) and interacting with guest speakers from businesses, other higher degree colleges, and student alumni."
Kathleen Walker, Psychology Faculty What is an example of how you connect to these supporting values? • Inclusiveness and Diversity “I encourage students to share their life experiences as they relate to the material in Psychology class. As the students open up and share, I use that time to teach respect for all viewpoints, beliefs, and ways of life. I stress the importance of learning from each other, rather than judging or debating. Over the years, I have realized that many students have become more accepting of others through these discussions in class.”

My goal is to help students to be competent and confident communicators thereby increasing employability, enhancing personal and social relationships, and improving civic engagement. I also try to model this value in my interactions with students, colleagues, and members of the community. I believe that our communication creates a social reality so that means we have to be mindful of the messages we send and have a debate-challenge or question such realities. At PVCC that means engaging in clear open dialogue, inviting debate, and being inclusive.”
