Preliminary Analysis of the O & C lands in Southwest Oregon April 17, 2012 Emilie Henderson Treg Christopher
Background • Economic and ecological concerns have long collided in southwestern Oregon • Management plan revisions are developing to allow for more economic output from timbered land in southwest Oregon, ideally without causing under ecological damage. • This work is intended an illustration of ILAP’s potential to address policy-relevant questions in Southwest Oregon.
Conclusions • This technique has potential for investigating alternative management scenarios in Southwest Oregon • Results can be translated to show wildlife habitat, as shown here. • Forest products output (e.g., biomass) would be good to investigate in this context for future work. • The ILAP Economics module has developed techniques for doing so. • We simply need the time to collaborate in the translation of our results into that context.
