  3. A 2001 study conducted in France found a strong correlation between high levels of stress and visual acuity. One of the most in-depth studies found that stress heightened test subject’s visual perception. A direct correlation was found when comparing the amount of stress the subject reported and differences he or she saw in the images. This was not what the researchers expected.   4. You now will participate in the experiment. I will read a statement that may or may not evoke a stress response. After hearing the statement, close your eyes and think about that statement as it applies to you. When instructed, open your eyes and look at the image on the screen. You will see several animals jumping a fence. You will then indicate whether you note NO DIFFERENCES, SOME differences, MANY differences in the types of animals. The more differences you note, the higher the amount of stress the statement evoked. Your Turn

When looking at colleges, gone are the days of “the experience” • Focus should be “bang for your buck” • Frank discussions at home about finances and reality • Marketable skills -- pay attention to the world of work and economy • In the end…you’ve got to find a job Section #2College is a MEANS to an END
