Transfer Details • Members need to agree to the transfer (ASTTBC) sent letter of consent • If consent not received, accreditation will expire • April 30, midnight effective date of transfer • ATCs and ATEs become ABCFP associate members • May 1: Associate members will receive a 7 month membership fee statement to Nov. 30 • Existing registered members will retain accreditation

FMRB Transfer • The FMRB is transferred to the ABCFP and called the FMB • Matt Makar (VRI MFR) rep retired and not replaced • Norm Shaw retired and replaced by Wayne Horvath RFT (education rep) • Brian Robinson RPF is the ABCFP staff liaison • All other Board members remain with Ron Mecredy continuing as chair • Thanks to John Leech and ASTTBC
Associate Member Rights/Obligations • ATC scope of practice: • Timber cruising forest measurements • Survey and inventory forest measurements related to timber cruising (supervision/implementation) • Photo interpretation and mapping related to cruising under the direction of an ATE, RFT or RPF
Associate Member Rights/Obligations • ATE Scope of Practice: • Timber cruising forest measurements and timber evaluation • Survey and inventory forest measurements related to timber cruising (planning/supervision/ implementation/quality control) • Training, supervision and quality control for timber cruising and evaluation • Photo interp. and mapping related to timber cruising and evaluation. • Cruise planning and compilation • Other functions under supervision of RFT, RPF
Associate Member Rights/Obligations • Cruising qualifications for entry and membership maintenance is the same • Can use the titles: ABCFP Associate Member, Certified Forest Measurements Specialist, ATC, ATE • Can vote on matters pertaining to associate members as determined by council • No official council representation • Can serve on appropriate committees
Associate Member Rights/Obligations • Must complete an annual self-assessment • Subject to ABCFP complaint resolution process, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice • Can apply for ABCFP leaves of absence (up to 3) • Examination process remains the same for now
Future Plans • We plan to expand associate membership to other subcategories including: • Waste and residue assessments • Scaling • Silviculture surveys • Vegetation resource inventory • (danger tree assessments, soil disturbance surveys, visual impact assessments?) • Marketing and promotions
