Creativity • Covers a wide range of arts and activities outside the normal curriculum. • Includes dance, theatre, music, & art. • About 50 hours
Action • Participation in individual and/or team sports, and physical activities outside the normal curriculum. • About 5o hours
Service • Doing things for others and with others • Serving individuals or groups in the community. • The community may be the school or town. • May be at local, national or international level. • About 50 hours
Philosophy of CAS • Establishlinks with local, national and international communities • Challenge the student • Develop a spirit of discovery and self- reliance • Encourageresponsibility • Enhancepersonal and interpersonal development through experiential learning • Providecounterbalance to the academic pressures of the rest of the Diploma program

Student Responsibilities Students “own” their personal CAS program With guidance from the coordinator, students choose activities interesting and relevant to them.
Student responsibilities • Set personal goals for what they hope to achieve in CAS program • Reflect on the activities • Keep a record of their activities • Show evidence of the 8 Learning Outcomes in their journal • Meet with their CAS coordinator 6 times during 18th month period
Evidence of 4 criteria & 8 learning outcomes • In February/March of their senior year, students will see CAS coordinator for their final check out. • I will need to see: • All log sheets with signatures • A journal which provides evidence of learning outcomes • Journal can be a : • Web blog • Power point • Scrap book • Hand written journal • Video • Names of students who successfully fulfill the CAS requirements are recorded on IBSA by Mrs. Rasmussen. • IB periodically asks to see samples of CAS
