Association Opportunities • Bring grants to HSRHA for building community capacity • Get more “done” on mission: advocacy, communications, research and education • Reinvigorate relationship with SORH • Show “value” to partners/stakeholders • Bring research/policy statements to stakeholders/partners • Expand the number and type of partners/stakeholders • Develop policy papers, using existing resources (i.e., NRHA) adding local/state implications • HHIC Website…”Knowledge Nuggets” for HSRHA website • Data specifics--- list
Suggested Elements of our Vision • ID statewide needs using data plus prioritizing in RH issues through data and listening to the local RHA’s and support solutions to those issues. • Listen to local RHA’s • Provide resources to lead • Connection to National • Recognize as “go to” for HI rural data and resources • Conduit for information, thinking, planning • Identify rural health priorities and support local communities, connect to national. • Be “Ghost busters” for rural health resources.

Capacity building goals for rural health • Provide community education/training • Support internships • Create RFP process for our local associations • Staff HSRHA • Plan 2011annual conference • Develop community health profiles and measures
Communication goals for rural health • Develop our websites • Create newsletter • Use list-serve for memberships • Share policy briefs with legislators • Improve connections with NRHA • Encourage M&M and AC to meet in Hawaii • Cultivate new partners and affiliates
The implementation of this plan by the state • association and all of our partners in the rural • communities of our islands will, hopefully result • in better care and health for the families • and multi-cultures of Hawaii
