COSC The closure of public toilets in Copeland
Copeland Council closed all public toilets in 2013 as part of a cost cutting exercise….
This has had an impact on all residents and visitors to the area.
Our Project* We discussed why this had been done* We discussed who it affected most
We took a map of Whitehaven & marked all toilets that we knew about that the public could use in shops &cafes
We were surprised to see that as more shops offered their toilets for use, we now have a better spread of facilities across the town
But does this mean that the council were morally right to close them?We think not!
Our Action Plan* To look at other towns in Copeland egEgremont* To make a directory of toilets the public can use* To publish the list on our blog & website
