Few Things to note: • Stop grabbing so many paper towels and then throwing unused ones in the trash • Do not put loads of paint on the lids and then wash it all down the sinks- use the paint cups! • Do not leave paper towels on the sink area, they can get in the sink and clog it • Put the lids back on the paint containers at the end of class!
Manet • Dark patches against light, used black as accent; early work was somber. Late work: colorful • Simplified forms with minimal modeling. Flat color patches outlined in black.
Monet • Sunny hues, pure primary colors dabbed side by side (shadows were complimentary colors dabbed side by side). • Dissolved form of subject into light and atmosphere, soft edges, classic Impressionist look. • Early work- short brush strokes/dabs of paint
Monet- Later • Rather than specks of paint, he lengthened his brushstrokes into sinuous sweeps of color. • Eliminated outlines and contours until form and line almost disappeared • Hazy mist of swirling color.
Renoir • Rich red, primary colors, detested black- used blue instead. • Early work was quick brushstrokes, blurred figures blended into hazy background.
