Historical Painting Technique • On a canvas board students will create: • 4 different, equal-sized paintings • that utilize the 4 different painting techniques from the Baroque, Impressionist, Favuist and Surrealist art movements. • This piece will introduce you to acrylic painting as well as allowing you to expand their skill sets in regards to paint application, blending and color mixing.
Learning Intention: We will be learning to apply the painting techniques from 4 different artistic movements onto one finished canvas board. Success Criteria: We will know we are successful when we have: • Completed paintings that represent Baroque, Impressionism, Favuism, and Surrealism. • Each painting is exactly 12.4cm or 4 15/16th inches square • Student has used the appropriate amount of materials for the project • Student is prepared for class everyday with materials

Tips for working with acrylics • Because acrylics dry so fast, squeeze only a little paint out of a tube at a time • Keep a piece of paper towel or cloth next to your water jar and get into the habit of wiping your brushes on it every time you rise them. EVERY TIME. • Because acrylics dry rapidly, you need to work fast if you wish to blend colors. • Clean out your water pot frequently
