Requirements for schools and colleges • Nominate at least one member of staff to be Progression Scheme link person • Allow link person time out to attend meetings or events (max. three occasions per year) • Work with us to develop an appropriate programme of activity for students • Promote our Progression Scheme in school/college • Invite us to HE/careers fairs • Update colleagues on Progression Scheme developments
Requirements for schools and colleges • Display our promotional material and keep a stock of our prospectuses • Actively promote our events to students • Respond to our requests for information and take part in market research • Pass information on to parents from time to time • Provide teacher cover in classes when we deliver activities
Requirements for individual students • Students should: • have the potential and be capable of succeeding in HE • be on course to meet our minimum entry criteria • achieve an acceptable level of skill in English and/or Maths • have a high commitment to the University of Derby, usually selecting it as a firm choice in the UCAS system • have a good attendance and punctuality • have a good level of core skills (managing learning, problem solving, communications, numeracy, and ICT) • Year 11 and below students should be working towards a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A-C
Joining the Scheme • There is a new Progression Scheme agreement • Both copies must be signed by the Head Teacher or Principal • We also need a copy of the school or college logo • Returned copies will be signed by John Coyne, we keep one copy and return the other along with the plaque • We add the school/college to our list of Partners who can immediately start accessing all the Progression Scheme benefits
