Background • SACMA & SACEA Initiative to address industry requirement on the Fatal Risk Standards (FRS). • Alignment of Fatal Risk Standards (FRS) attempts within Colliery Industry, • Industry Confusion with regards to contractors compliance requirements, • Educationof key stakeholders about FRS requirements, • Best Practice Guideline for all Collieries where Fatal Risk Standards have not been adopted.

Scope of FRS • Light Vehicles (LV’s) • A Light Vehicle is a vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight that does not exceed 4500kg and is/can be registered for use on a public road. • Heavy Vehicles (HDV’s) • A Heavy Delivery Vehicle (HDV) is a vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight that exceeds 4500kg and is/can be registered for use on a public road. • Busses • A Heavy Delivery Vehicle (HDV) is a vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight that exceeds 4500kg and is/can be registered for use on a public road. • Livery • The Identification Signage which will be required on mobile equipment.
