INTRODUCTION • The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), also called the Law of the Sea Convention or the Law of the Sea treaty, is the international agreement that resulted from the third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS III), which took place from 1973 through 1982. • UNCLOS • LOS
The Law of the Sea Convention defines the rights and responsibilities of nations in their use of the world's oceans, establishing guidelines for businesses, the environment, and the management of marine natural resources.
We must know • Believing that the codification and progressive development of the law of the sea achieved in this Convention will contribute to the strengthening of peace, security, cooperation and friendly relations among all nations in conformity with the principles of justice and equal rights and will promote the economic and social advancement of all peoples of the world, in accordance with the Purposes and Principles of the United Nations as set forth in the Charter. • Affirming that matters not regulated by this Convention continue to be governed by the rules and principles of general international law.

芝加哥公约 • 国际民用航空组织于1944年12月7日通过《国际民用航空公约》,在美国城市芝加哥签订。根据芝加哥公约的,规定1947年4月1日,国际民航组织正式成立。1992年9月1994年起,将每年的12月7日定为“国际民航日”。我国于1974召开的国际民航组织第29届大会作出决议,自芝加哥公约签署50周年的年2月15日承认该公约,同时决定参加国际民用航空组织的活动。
