  2. Archimedes Foundation • Contact point for FP6, eContent, EU educational programmes • Founded in 1997 by Ministry of Education • Participated in numerous FP5 and PHARE projects • Coordinator of Estonian eVikings project (IST 2001-2002) eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec

Archimedes’s role in eV II To act as a support unit to RTD activities, by: • facilitating the international exposure of the Centre; • transition from project ideas to project proposals; • by integrating critical mass of people into innovation policy consultation group. eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec

  4. Aims will be achieved • through the activities of WP6: Internationalisation of the exploitation of the RTD results and fostering innovation • through the activities of WP7: Reinforcing STI policies and fostering innovation eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec

  5. Activities in WP6 • Initiation of new projects through: • communication with the core work-packages and screening of new IST project ideas • establishing link between research partners and industrial partners through specialised events • raising awareness of CoE participants about funding possibilities from EC, ESTAG • setting up a team of professionals assisting in project proposal preparation • assuring international exposure of the CoE activities through partner searches and new projects eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec

Activities in WP6 (2) • Reinforcing brand name and credibility of the CoE • Presentations of CoE and best practice cases at international events such as Brussels FP6 conference, Warsaw FP6 opening conference, IST 2003 etc • Compilation of promotion materials such as IST CDs etc • Dedicated articles in journals and newspapers eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec

Activities in WP6 (3) Starting off with: • awareness and training events (financial aspects, proposal writing, researchers mobility etc) • mapping of new potential researchers to achieve critical mass for the activities of CoE • initiation of new projects if any suitable idea recognised eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec

Activities in WP7 Aimed at cohering the innovation policy to the needs of IT community as well as adapting to future policy developments Keywords: technology programme and EU structural funds It will be achieved: • by performing IST studies, and participation in foresight building process • establishing working groups to consult the results of the studies and seminars at the participation of foreign experts • arranging high-level conferences eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec

  9. Studies • Estonian IST RTD innovation system assessment revised version • 2 benchmarking reports and analysis • FP5 participants view and needs • participation in foresight building process in view of technology programme 2004... eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec

Consultation groups • will be formed in order to discuss the outcomes of the studies and foresight, in advance of policy recommendations • seminars will be arranged to increase the awareness of IT stakeholders (export support for innovative RTD results etc) eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec

  11. Conferences • 2 high level conferences ahead • april 2003: launch of foresight in Estonia (press coverage) • may 2004: dedicated on STI policy best practices and applicability in Estonian context eVikings II kick-off, Tallinn 16.Dec
