Different Types of Government • Monarchy • Dictatorship • Emperor • Democracy
Monarchy • A monarchy has a king or queen. • Rule or the power of government in the hands of an individual who has inherited the role and expects to leave it to descendents.
Dictator • This is a country ruled by a single leader. • The leader has not been elected and may use force to keep control.
Emperor • Much like a monarchy, but an emperor rules a larger group of nations. • The Emperor of Japan is the only remaining monarch in the world who has the title of Emperor.
Democracy • Government is elected by the people. • Everyone who is eligible to vote has a chance to have their say over who runs the country. • Of the people, by the people and for the people.
