Yuji Nakahara Class of 2003, JGSM Partner, McKinsey & Company Yuji Nakahara is a Principal of McKinsey's Japan office. Since joining the firm in September 2003, he has been the leader of the Global Material and Energy practice group in Tokyo office, with a particular focus on energy (oil/gas, power, and renewables), and chemicals. Since 2006, he has been active in supporting clients on Clean-tech and identifying new business opportunities in emerging markets. He also supports investors and clients on corporate finance and strategic alliances, with a focus on bridging Japanese manufacturers and the emerging markets. Yuji worked in Sydney office for a year as an Associate. Prior to joining McKinsey, Yuji worked for JGC Corporation, a global leading engineering and contracting company as a chemical engineer/project manager for refinery/gas plant projects in Asia, Middle East, and Africa. He also has working experience in Goldman Sachs’ M&A advisory section. Yuji received a BS and MS in chemical engineering from University of Tokyo, where his research focused on energy conversion. He later earned an MBA with distinction from Cornell University with a focus on strategy and finance Yuji is a committee member of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
