  1. WASL Everything You Need to Know

  2. What is the WASL? • The Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) measures student learning of skills and knowledge important to our children’s success in school and life. Educators use WASL results to improve teaching and to do a better job of meeting every student’s academic needs. • The WASL is used to meet state and federal testing requirements. Reference: OSPI

  3. Why do I have to take the WASL? • Students must have a certain level of skill in reading, writing and math to be eligible to graduate. • Washington’s 1993 education reform law was passed because our schools were awarding high school diplomas to students who couldn’t read, write or do math well enough to survive in the job market or college.

  4. What happens if I miss a day? • You will fail that section of the test. • There are NO MAKE-UP's for this testing window. • Of course there are other opportunities to make up the test.

  5. What happens if I don’t pass?
