The first Recorded Measurement • The inch was the length of our thumbs • Foot was itself • The Egyptians and Mesopotamia were the first to use measurement.
Romans Measurement • The unit the Roman’s used were instated in 750 A.D. • The length of a foot was based on a person’s foot.
The Metric System • The French created the Metric System to allow every country to understand one another's measurement by having the same unit to measure.
Treaty of the Meter • It created the three group of the Metric System. • BIPM • CGPM • CIPM
Standard meter in 1791 • The French Academy of Sciences decided in 1791 that the meter would be defined by the dimensions of the planet earth.
Standard Meter in 1983 • On October 20, 1983, the meter was officially redefined as the distance traveled by light in a vacuum during a time interval of 1/299,792,458 of a second.
Metric Act of 1866 • It stated that the Metric system was good effect that the U.S. decide to use it as the standard unit of measurement.
Early tools of Measurement • Some of the first tools used were simply a person’s foot, thumb, and a string with a small rock at the end of it.
