Peer Review: Memoir Proposal This peer review will focus more on ideas than structure/grammar. Your goal as the reviewer is to help the author: • Clarify her/his idea(s) • Make sure s/he has enough to write about • Has begun to develop and idea of the significance of this experience Questions for Peer Review: • Do you understand what happened based on the author’s summary? • Do you understand why this experience was important to the author? • Is it clear how this experience continues to influence the author?
Homework • Read Guide, Ch. 4 (disregard this reading on your course calendar) • Read the two short personal essays. As you read: • Underline the phrases or sentences that stand out to you • Take notes in the margins that keep track of your reaction to what’s happening in the essay • Circle descriptions that you find particularly evocative • Share your thoughts about one of the essays on the blog • If you want to, send me a revised version of your proposal by no later than tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon. Make sure the word “revised” is added to your assignment description.
