  6. MCAT prep • Personal Essay Seminar – Nov. 6 at 5:30 p.m. • Workshop on personal essays hosted by Altius – helpful for anyone whether they’re applying for medical school, scholarships, study abroad, internships, etc. • New MCAT Night – Tentatively set for sometime in February

Volunteering Opportunities • Omega & Sunflower Health Care • Work in a hospice setting with one-on-one companionship time with the patients • Individual volunteering • Required: • 1 ½ hour-long training session, which takes place on the KU campus • TB test (paid for by the company) • If interested, contact: • Jamie Peace • 913-544-8391 • jpeace@omega-healthcare.com

Volunteering, cont. • Douglas County AIDS project • Variety of volunteering positions in clerical work, community awareness and education, fundraising, “buddy” program, etc. • Required: • Attendance of agency orientation and HIV 101 Basic Training, provided by DCAP • Application on www.douglascountyaidsproject.org

Jayhawk Health Initiative • Information Sessions • Thursday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m. • Wednesday, October 23 at 8:00 pm • Nunemaker • Learn more about this organization’s work to provide medical mission brigades to Panama. • “Student volunteers have the opportunity to intake patients, perform triage and distribute medications under licensed pharmacists.”
