OFFICE OF THEVICE PROVOST FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS • An FAQ page to address student questions on admission and registration to the Cooperative Engineering Program with MSU has been prepared. • $500K in one time funds have been received from the state for the Cooperative Engineering Program with MSU. • The Institutional Summary for the ABET Self Study report is under preparation and will be distributed to the sixteen undergraduate engineering programs during April. • Third year review binders for tenure track (TT) faculty were distributed. Meetings between the TT faculty and their advisory committee are scheduled for April.

OFFICE OF THEVICE PROVOST FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS • The SB389 task force continues to meet regarding implementation of the consumer information regarding faculty credentials and teaching evaluations. • The Corporate Relations Team has identified the Top 50 corporate partners. • A meeting was held with the Personnel Committee to discuss the NTT faculty policy for the campus. A follow-up meeting to address resolution of a few aspects of the policy will be scheduled for later this month. • The McBride, Bailey and C. J. Grimm Scholarships have been awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee to eligible students.

  4. Office of Graduate Studies Announced the availability of Graduate Recruitment Awards and issued Call for Graduate Recruitment Grant Proposals. Proposals are due by April 21, 2008. Final draft of the graduate catalog should be posted at http://grad.mst.edu/CGCS.html by April 18, 2008 for review and will be submitted for vote by graduate faculty in May.

Office of Sponsored Programs • FY08 activities through the end of March 2008 and a year-over-year comparison are as follows: • Proposals awarded in total dollars: $31.15M (up 12.8%) • Number of proposals awarded and amendments: 275 (up 4.6%) • Proposals submitted in total dollars: $106.79M (up 19.4%) • Number of proposals submitted: 425 (up 46.1%) • Research expenditures: $28.79M (up 23.7%) • F&A recovered: $3.95M (up 17.5%)

  6. Office of Sponsored Programs • FY08 technology transfer activities through March 2008 • Number of disclosures received: 20 • Number of patent applications filed: 21 • Number of patents issued: 4 • Number of license/options signed: 13 • Licensing income: $306,768

  7. School of Extended Learning March 2008 International Affairs: • Missouri S&T has a linkage agreement with the University of Botswana. The new agreement involves Mining Engineering in a 3+2 program. Students from Botswana will attend 3 years at the Univ. of Botswana & then transfer for the final two years at Missouri S&T. Video Communications Center: • Doug Carroll has greatly expanded his use of WebEx for his creative “electronic office hours” and for developing his teaching “system” that is a combination of the Tablet PC, Windows Journal software, and the WebEx hosting, recording and distribution service.   8. School of Extended Learning March 2008 Distance & Continuing Education: • There is a busy 2008 summer camp schedule ahead. In addition to traditional offerings, a second offering of Robotics camp has been added at the request of a school district in Illinois, a new music camp "Miner Jam" is scheduled and S&T will also host a new group, Missouri Music Ambassadors for 130 top high school students. • A contract ($47,200) was awarded by the Association of State Dam Safety Officials to present  two advanced training seminars entitled "Slope Stability for Embankment Dams“. • Dan Cernusca has published a book entitled, “Implementation of an Online Learning Environment in a Large Classroom”. Dan is an instructional designer for S&T. He can be contacted at Ext. 4632 and is available to help faculty with distance course design.

Office of Undergraduate Studies - April 2008 Academic Advising Office: • 2007/08 Outstanding Academic Advising Awards - Eight annual advising awards are presented to four faculty members, a staff advisor, a freshman advisor, a transfer student advisor and a PRO advisor.  Each award recipient will receive $500.00, an awards plaque, and mention on the University’s Outstanding Academic Advisor Awards Plaque.  Awards will be announced during a campus-wide reception on April 29, 2008 in the Havener Center. For more information contact Angie Hammons at hammonsa@mst.edu Undergraduate Research Announcements: • 4th Annual Undergraduate Research Conference April 9, 2008 - The fourth annual Missouri S&T Undergraduate Research Conference will be held April 9. This event provides opportunities for students to showcase research efforts to the campus community and to the public. The research conference will include oral and poster sessions.
