OVERVIEW • Examples of the merger of Energy Efficiency and Demand Reduction/Demand Response in the marketplace • Southern California Edison’s Innovative Design in Energy Efficiency Activities (IDEEA) LEEDR program • Regulatory Considerations • The Connecticut “Smart Meter and Control” program sponsored by the US Department of Energy
Lighting Energy Efficiency and Demand Response (LEEDR) • LEEDR is a Southern California Edison (SCE) IDEEA program • SCE asks for Innovative programs from third-parties • Competition • Selection • EnergySolve’s LEEDR program selected
Lighting Energy Efficiency and Demand Response (LEEDR) • LEEDR program replaces less efficient lighting systems with systems that are more efficient and demand responsive • T-12 fluorescent lighting to T-5 wireless, dimmable systems • High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting replaced with wireless, dimmable T-5 High Output (HO) lighting • HID lighting includes Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium lighting
T-12 Replacement • Energy Savings • 4 40 Watt T-12s to 2 28 Watt T-5s • Watts saved: 104 watts • Percent of energy saved: 59% • 4 34 Watt T-12s to 2 28 Watt T-5s • Watts saved: 84 watts • Percent of energy saved: 53.8% • Installation: Snap out 4 lamps and snap-in 2 T-5 lamps that are in a holster with electronic ballast
HID Replacement • A 400 watt Metal Halide Fixture replaced with a 4 lamp T-5 HO lamp • Wattage reduction: 231 watts saved • Energy Savings: 49.7% • A 400 watt Metal Halide Fixture replaced with a 3 lamp T-5 HO lamp • Wattage reduction: 295 watts saved • Energy Savings: 63.4%
